Manchester United have given up on Cesc Fabregas and will now try to reunite manager David Moyes with his former Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini, according to a report.

Manchester United seem to have signalled defeat in their attempts to sign Cesc Fabregas by reportedly launching a bid for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

The Red Devils have had two bids for Fabregas rejected by Barcelona, and the Spain international will apparently announce this week that he wants to stay with the Catalan club.

That news will deter United from making a fresh offer, but manager David Moyes is still desperate to sign a midfielder and, according to The Mirror, will now turn to Fellaini, with whom he successfully worked during his time in charge of the Toffees.

The versatile Belgian is believed to have a £23.5m buy-out clause allowing him to move to a Champions League club, but United value him at a lower price and are prepared to haggle to get their man.

Fellaini has also been on the radar of Arsenal this summer.
