Derek Boateng eyes Fulham exit

Derek Boateng claims that he is seeking an escape route from Fulham this winter in a bid to boost his prospects of making Ghana's World Cup squad.

Fulham midfielder Derek Boateng has revealed that he is actively seeking a loan move away from Craven Cottage in January in a bid to aid his chances of being named in Ghana's World Cup squad.

The 30-year-old has made just two Premier League starts for the West London outfit since being signed by former Cottagers boss Martin Jol on a free transfer in May.

Boateng feels that his selection for the Black Stars in June is in jeopardy and claims to have expressed an interest in leaving to the club's hierarchy.

Speaking to Football 411, he said: "It is every players dream to play in the World Cup and I want to go to Brazil to help my national team, [but] I cannot go while I continue to warm the bench at Fulham.

"I was signed by Martin [Jol] and he is no more with us, so I have started speaking to Fulham and hopefully they will understand me and allow me to go on loan.

"Scott [Parker] and the other players are doing well, and I don't think I can be guaranteed a permanent place with the starting line-up. I know this request won't cause any problem for both parties."

Ghana, who booked their place in Brazil by recording a 7-3 aggregate victory over Egypt last month, were drawn into a formidable group alongside Germany, Portugal and the USA for the finals next summer.
