Steve Bruce 'deeply frustrated' with Hull City collapse

Hull boss Steve Bruce admits that his side's League Cup capitulation against West Brom is 'deeply frustrating'.

Steve Bruce has admitted that there is a "deep frustration" coursing through him and his Hull City team following tonight's dramatic 3-2 defeat to West Bromwich Albion in the League Cup.

The Tigers were minutes away from a place in the fourth round after goals from Thomas Ince and Robbie Brady negated Brown Ideye's first-half opener.

However, City ended up losing the clash in regulation as two goals in as many minutes from Gareth McAuley and Saido Berahino secured the Baggies' progression.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Bruce said: "There's a deep frustration among us all. That's two or three times we've conceded late goals and it's a real concern."

The 53-year-old did draw some solace from the performance of Hatem Ben Arfa, whose defence-splitting pass set up Brady for Hull's second.

He added: "Hatem Ben Arfa is a wonderful talent and he is one of these, when he gets the ball you get off your seat. You don't see that very often."

Hull would have faced Bournemouth in the next round had they held on to their lead.
