Steve Bruce: 'Paul McShane's ankle in a horrible position'

Hull City boss Steve Bruce expects Paul McShane to be out of action for a long time with the ankle injury that he picked up during tonight's 1-0 defeat to Southampton.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce expects Paul McShane to be sidelined for a long time with the ankle injury that he picked up during tonight's 1-0 defeat to Southampton.

Defender McShane departed the action on a stretcher early in the first half after colliding with Hull goalkeeper Steve Harper.

After the match, Bruce told BBC Sport: "The X-rays are clear. His ankle is in a horrible position.

"We expect ligament damage - we'll find out how bad the injury is tomorrow. It disrupted us for a while."

McShane has now made 13th first-team appearances this season.
