Chuba Akpom strike enough for Hull City victory over Bolton Wanderers

Chuba Akpom scores the only goal of the game in the 19th minute to fire Hull City to a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers in their Championship clash at the KC Stadium.

A first-half strike from Chuba Akpom was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for Hull City in their Championship clash against Bolton Wanderers at the KC Stadium this afternoon.

The home side came close to taking the lead when Sam Clucas raided down the flank and lifted a cross to the back post for Ahmed Elmohamady to attack, but the winger put his effort wide of the target.

The Egyptian was involved again for the Tigers as they looked to take the lead in the 19th minute when his strike was well saved by Ben Amos, but Akpom seized on the rebound to blast his strike into the net.

Clucas could have extended his team's lead before the break when he latched on to a low ball into the area, but he could only send his strike over the bar at full stretch.

The Trotters came within inches of an equaliser when Neil Danns collected the ball on the edge of the box and drilled a low strike towards goal, only to see his attempt clatter off the post and bounce clear.

Jake Livermore had two attempts at goal as he was allowed to raid forward through the middle from deep, but his efforts were unable to beat Amos.

Akpom could have put the game beyond doubt for Hull when he met Elmohamady's cross into the box, but he could only slice his strike wide of the post.

The visitors attempted to earn a point from the game with a late surge, but Steve Bruce's men held out to claim the three points.
