Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy is among the contenders nominated for September's Manager of the Month award in the Championship.

The unbeaten Tractor Boys moved up into the playoff places last month after taking 13 points from a possible 15.

Middlesbrough's Aitor Karanka joins McCarthy on the shortlist as a run of three wins and two draws kept Boro in and around the top six.

An identical return of 10 points from five games has also seen Derby County boss Steve McClaren nominated, with the Rams keeping their promotion charge alive.

Finally, Charlton Athletic's Bob Peeters completes the nominees after his side went unbeaten for a second successive month to knock on the door of the playoff spots.

The winner of the award will be announced on Friday.
