Mick McCarthy delighted with Ipswich Town forwards

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy pays tribute to his attacking players following the 2-0 win over Burnley.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has revealed his delight with the attackers in his squad following the 2-0 victory over Burnley.

Goals from strikers Freddie Sears and David McGoldrick at Portman Road were enough to send Ipswich to the top of the Championship on Tuesday evening, and McCarthy admits that he is pleased to have so many match-winners at his disposal.

"I think we are incredibly strong going forward and it is nice to have that strength in depth. I am delighted Freddie has signed a long contract. It is thoroughly deserved and reflects his status at the club," he told reporters.

"It was a good result and a good performance - I am happy with both. It was two very strong, powerful teams, playing good football and it was a case of who blinked first.

"Eighteen months ago, we shaded it against them but they won thanks to a great bit of quality from Scott Arfield. Tonight we showed that, especially with Freddie's goal."

Ipswich will look to extend their unbeaten run when they visit Preston North End on Saturday.
