Daryl Murphy hoping DJ Campbell stays at Ipswich Town

DJ Campbell is urged to join Ipswich Town on a permanent basis by fellow striker Daryl Murphy.

Ipswich Town attacker Daryl Murphy has urged the club to turn DJ Campbell's loan switch into a permanent one.

Campbell, who joined the Tractor Boys from Premier League side Queens Park Rangers on a temporary basis, has scored four goals in seven outings for Mick McCarthy's side.

With the deal due to expire in January, Murphy is keen to see the 31-year-old commit his future to the Portman Road outfit.

"He's a poacher isn't he?" Murphy told the East Anglian Daily Times. "DJ's a great little player. I played against him when I was at Sunderland and he was at Brentford. He scored two goals against us that day, was a real handful, got his move off the back off that game and has never really looked back.

"He's just what you need in and around the box. He's always on the move and I thought his goal on Saturday was brilliant. We've linked up well and created a few half chances.

"You want players like that to stay. Not only is a great player to have on the pitch, he's a great character to have around the training ground too."

Campbell joined QPR in the summer of 2011 from Blackpool.
