Stead tips Skuse to shine at Ipswich

Former Ipswich Town striker Jon Stead feels that the club have made a good signing in Cole Skuse.

Jon Stead has insisted that his former club Ipswich Town have signed "a very good player" in Cole Skuse.

Midfielder Skuse agreed a three-year contract at Portman Road last week, which will start in July once his deal with Bristol City comes to an end.

Having played alongside Skuse with the Robins, Stead has tipped his former teammate to be make an impression on the Ipswich supporters.

"Ipswich are getting a very good player. Cole asked me about Ipswich and I had nothing but good things to say – both about the club and the area. I told him that it's a well-run club, a family club, and that the fans will get right behind him," he told the East Anglian Daily Times.

"I think Ipswich fans are very similar to Bristol City ones in that they respect players who work hard and give their all for the team. I certainly found that to be the case from a personal point of view and Cole is certainly the sort of player who will give everything for the club. He may not always get the headlines, but you can't underestimate the role he has in the team and within the club."

Like Skuse, Stead will also leave City this summer on a free transfer.
