Patrice Evra: 'I won't snub Luis Suarez handshake in Champions League final'

Patrice Evra says that he has no problem with shaking Luis Suarez's hand when Juventus meet Barcelona in the Champions League final.

Patrice Evra has insisted that he will shake Luis Suarez's hand before Juventus's Champions League final with Barcelona next month.

The Bianconeri booked their place in Berlin on June 6 on Wednesday with a 3-2 aggregate win over Real Madrid, with Evra facing Suarez one of several subplots.

The players have history after the Uruguayan - then at Liverpool - was given an eight-match ban and a £40,000 fine for allegedly racially abusing the former Manchester United defender in 2011.

Suarez snubbed Evra's handshake when the duo next met, and the Frenchman insists that he will also not back down from the pre-match gesture this time around.

"A lot of people ask me this question, it doesn't matter," he told reporters. "The most important thing is I play the final, you know.

"I am proud to be what I am, I am proud about my colour and I will shake his hand, it is no problem, but I will make sure he will feel me on the pitch."

The final could also see Suarez come up against Giorgio Chiellini, who he bit in Uruguay's World Cup clash with Italy last summer.
