Juventus have had to end their interest in Wesley Sneijder after being told that he is not for sale by Galatasaray.
Reports suggested that Sneijder was free to leave the Turkish club in this window after being repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League and other Italian clubs.
However, managing director Beppe Marotta has told reporters that a move is now off due to Galatasaray's reluctance to sell the 30-year-old Dutch midfielder.
He said: "The winter transfer periods are to repair teams, and we have no need to repair. We will only look at good opportunities. Wesley Sneijder was such an opportunity, but Galatasaray would absolutely not let him go."
Sneijder has previously played for Ajax, Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
