Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels claims to have been assured that he will not receive a suspension for his sending-off against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Kilmarnock boss Kenny Shiels is not expecting to receive a touchline ban despite being sent to the stands during his side's 1-1 draw at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The Northern Irishman was penalised for kicking a bottle after his side were denied a late penalty but claims the officials have assured him that no further action will be taken.

"Nothing will be done," Sky Sports News quotes Shiels as saying. "The referee said it was just protocol. The fourth official said, 'We have to do this because there is someone watching me up in the stand'.

"He said, 'Don't worry about it - nothing will be done. It's a ridiculous ruling'."

The Killie boss went on to say he is proud of his team's performance and insist that they deserved something from the game.

"I think we deserved it because we showed a great desire and commitment to get something from the game," he added. "Inverness missed a few chances but you have got to give our players credit."

The result leaves Kilmarnock in sixth place in the Scottish Premier League.
