Dougie Freedman: 'We needed to kill Leeds United off'

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman admits that victory would have flattered his side during their 1-1 draw with Leeds United.

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has admitted that his side did not do enough to kill Leeds United off during their Championship meeting at the City Ground this evening.

Forest took the lead through Nelson Oliveira in the 17th minute, but eventually succumbed to the Leeds pressure 10 minutes from time when Sam Byram rescued a point for the visitors.

Freedman acknowledged that Leeds played well during the match and suggested that it would have flattered his side had they held out for all three points.

"I felt Leeds had very good individual players. It was a gameplan that was working," he told reporters.

"Credit to Leeds, they go for 95 minutes. So I felt the only way to win the game was to kill them off, because they keep coming at you."

The result means that Forest are now six games without defeat.
