Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup admits that Alan Tate's long-term future with the Welsh club is unclear.

Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup has admitted that he is unsure whether Alan Tate has a future at the Premier League club.

The 30-year-old, who has made 325 appearances for the Swans, joined Leeds United on loan last week. It is expected that he will return to Wales in January, but Laudrup has hinted at a possible permanent deal.

"I don't know whether that might happen. I just heard a couple of days before Alan left that Leeds was a possibility, and he said he wanted to go and play some games. I agreed with him that he needs to play, 100%," Laudrup told the South Wales Evening Post.

"We have five players in his position now that Kyle [Bartley] is back - two of them can play, one can sit on the bench and then two more will be in the stand - so I think it was a good decision by Alan to go and play some football.

"Now we will see what happens, but whether it is going to be a permanent deal depends on a lot of factors. You never know what can happen here - we have seen already this season that we can have problems and suddenly be down to only two centre-backs. I really don't know what will happen - let's see."

Tate has spent 10 years with the Welsh outfit.
