Claudio Ranieri: 'No Leicester City stadium extension next season'

Claudio Ranieri says that Premier League leaders Leicester City will not extend their King Power Stadium for next season, despite guaranteeing Champions League football.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has revealed that there will be no extension at the King Power Stadium next season, despite the Foxes' miraculous Champions League guarantee.

Ranieri has guided Leicester, who won seven of their last nine games last season to stay up, to an unthinkable seven-point lead at the top of the table with only five matches of the season remaining.

They were recently assured of a top-four place and therefore Champions League football next season, but Ranieri said that there will not be a stadium extension quite yet.

"Next season it's not possible to build a new stand," the Italian told reporters. "The owner told me it's possible to grow the stadium [in the future]."

Ranieri also confirmed that he is committed to the long-term cause at Leicester.

"I'd like to stay [for the long term]. If the chairman is happy then I'm happy," he added.

If Leicester do go on to win the Premier League, bookmakers have said that their pre-season chances of 5000-1 would be the longest odds on any single successful event ever.
