Leicester City held by 10-man Hull City

Leicester City and Hull City play out a goalless draw in their Premier League clash as the home side are unable to find a winner against the 10 men of the Tigers.

Leicester City were held to a goalless draw in their Premier League clash against 10-man Hull City at the King Power Stadium this afternoon.

The Tigers had the first opening of the game when Ahmed Elmohamady raided down the right flank and hit Nikica Jelavic in the middle, but the striker tried an ambitious overhead kick which missed the target.

Jelavic should have fired the visitors ahead in the 20th minute when Elmohamady found further success down the wing. His cross left the Croat with a simple finish, but he got his feet tangled with the goal gaping and spurned the chance.

Hull did get the ball in the back of the net when Jelavic bundled home from close range, but the referee disallowed the effort after Dame N'Doye clattered into Mark Schwarzer to win the ball for the visitors.

Leicester should have put themselves ahead when Riyad Mahrez raided down flank and dug out a cross to the back post for the run of Andrej Kramaric, but the forward failed to connect with a header at the back post.

In the second half, Allan McGregor had to be alert to the danger as Jamie Vardy whipped in a dangerous cross from the right, which looked to be dipping under the bar until the keeper turned the ball over.

Jake Livermore managed to unlock the Leicester defence to create an opening for Elmohamady, but the winger's effort lacked power and was straight at Schwarzer.

The Tigers were then reduced to 10 men when Tom Huddlestone was sent off for a second bookable offence for bringing down Vardy as he attempted to raid upfield.

Nigel Pearson's side went close from the resulting free kick as Mahrez slid the ball to Jeffrey Schlupp on the edge of the box, but the winger's effort was blocked on the line by his own teammate Leonardo Ulloa.

Leicester came within inches of taking the lead late in the game when Vardy raided down wing once again and lifted a pinpoint cross into the box for David Nugent, but he failed to find the target from close range.

Minutes later, Schwarzer made a solid stop to deny Abel Hernandez from close range as he attempted to find the bottom corner, while there was still time for Mahrez to fire his free kick straight at McGregor at the other end.

The Foxes had one final chance from a corner deep into stoppage time, and Mathew Upson rose highest in the box to power a header at goal, but his effort was straight into the arms of McGregor.
