Leicester City striker Tom Cannon is reportedly attracting interest from multiple clubs in the Championship, with Hull City submitting a £5m bid for the Irishman.

Leicester City have reportedly received a £5m bid from Championship outfit Hull City for Tom Cannon.

The 21-year-old developed his game in the youth teams of Everton, before a loan spell at second-tier Preston North End allowed the striker to announce himself on the senior stage.

During a temporary stint at Deepdale during the second half of the 2022-23 campaign, Cannon made the net ripple on eight occasions across 21 appearances for Ryan Lowe's Lilywhites.

Stellar displays in Lancashire from the Irishman resulted in a high-profile move to Leicester last summer, although the attacker endured a troubling debut term in the East Midlands.

After missing the start of the season due to injury, Cannon found himself firmly behind the likes of Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka in the Foxes' attacking pecking order.

Leicester 'receive' £5m Hull bid for Cannon

According to Football Insider, Leicester's Cannon could be dropping down a division to the Championship before the conclusion of the summer transfer window.

The report claims that second-tier challengers Hull are interested in a deal for the youngster, submitting an initial offer of £5m to the Foxes.

It remains to be seen whether Leicester accept the first advances of the Tigers, although it is understood that the top-flight club are ideally looking to pocket £7m from the sale of the attacker.

As well as Tim Walter's side, it is believed that Sheffield United, Sunderland and Norwich City are considering late swoops for Cannon this week.

It was reported earlier this month that Leicester are willing to offload the Irishman on a permanent deal, with the former Toffee unlikely to earn any game time in the Premier League for Steve Cooper's troops.

Championship chance for Cannon

After making the bench for Leicester's Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur on August 19, Cannon has not been involved for the Foxes in either the loss at Fulham or the victory over Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Despite Daka being sidelined until 2025 due to injury, it is clear that Cooper has no place for the ex-Preston loanee in the top-flight plans.

As a result, a permanent move to Championship playoff contenders Hull could be an excellent switch for Cannon at this stage of his blossoming career.

With Liam Delap departing the Tigers for Ipswich Town earlier in the summer, Cannon would have the opportunity to cement himself as the first-choice forward at the MKM Stadium, challenging Chris Bedia and Oscar Estupinan.
