Preview: Leicester Women vs. Everton Ladies - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Leicester Women and Everton Ladies, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Leicester Women are still searching for their first league points of the season, and they will aim to change that when they welcome Everton Ladies to the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

The visitors have had a disappointing start to the Women's Super League season, and they head into the weekend in 10th place after collecting just two victories in their opening seven games.

Match preview

After winning promotion to the WSL, Leicester have found it tough going in the top tier of English football, losing all seven of their league encounters, which leaves them bottom of the table.

They looked set to claim their first point of the season last weekend when their clash with Brighton and Hove Albion was on the way to ending goalless, but Maisie Symonds struck in the third minute of stoppage time to snatch all three points for the South coast side.

Although the Foxes will head into Sunday's encounter in high spirits after collecting their first competitive win of the season, when they faced Durham in a League Cup fixture.

A goal apiece for Shannon O'Brien and Molly Pike guided Leicester to a crucial 2-1 victory, and they will aim to build on that positive result against Everton on Sunday.

If Jonathan Morgan's side are to start picking up points they need to improve at both ends of the pitch, with his side holding the worst defensive record in the league - conceding 18 goals - and they have also managed to find the net on just three occasions in the WSL.

Jean-Luc Vasseur will be hoping to replicate the 3-1 League Cup victory against Leicester that he achieved in his first game in charge of the Toffees.

Everton have played two games since that encounter, losing 1-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion before drawing 1-1 at home to Manchester United last weekend.

Simone Magill equalised in the 76th minute to cancel out Ella Toone's opener, and Everton held on to claim Vasseur's first WSL point.

Although, the new Everton boss is still searching for his first league win, and he will see a fixture against a side rooted to the bottom of the table as a perfect opportunity to clinch all three points.

In their three league away games this season, Everton suffered heavy defeats to Chelsea and Arsenal, but they did manage a 3-0 win over Reading, and they will be aiming for their second away league victory on Sunday.

Team News

Leicester are still without Connie Schofield, who is absent due to a foot injury.

It was announced on Friday that goalkeeper Kirstie Levell is out for an extended period with a knee problem.

In Levell's absence, Demi Lambourne is set for a run in the team, and she will feature in her first league game of the season on Sunday.

Everton are still missing Nicoline Sorensen, who is out for an extended period due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Nathalie Bjorn and Anna Anvegard missed last weekend's game as a precaution and the pair are set to return to the starting lineup this Sunday.

Despite coming on as a substitute to score the equaliser against Manchester United, Magill is likely to begin the encounter on the bench.

Leicester Women possible starting lineup:
Levell; Howard, Brougham, McManus, Plumptre, Purfield; De Graaf, Pike, Tierney, O'Brien; Sigsworth

Everton Ladies possible starting lineup:
Maciver; Bjorn, Sevecke, George, Turner; Graham, Christiansen, Dali; Emslie, Anvegard, Duggan

We say: Leicester Women 1-3 Everton Ladies

Everton are a much better side than their league position suggests, and Vasseur will see the meeting with the side bottom of the league as a great opportunity to collect his first WSL victory.

We think that the visitors will have too much quality for their hosts, with Everton picking up all three points on Sunday.
