Daniel Sturridge returns to training after hip surgery

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge returns to training following a hip operation in May for an injury he suffered back in April.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has returned to training following a hip operation in May.

The 26-year-old has not played since his side's FA Cup sixth-round victory over Blackburn Rovers on April 8, and spent most of the summer rehabilitating in the USA.

It has been deemed unlikely that Sturridge will be fit enough for Saturday's Premier League game against Manchester United, but images on Twitter showed him training with Reds teammate Jordon Ibe.

The England forward played 18 times for Liverpool last season, scoring five goals.
