John Aldridge: 'Luis Suarez can't be a superhero all the time'

Aldridge: 'Suarez not always a superhero'

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge feels that critics of Luis Suarez's recent performances are being harsh towards the forward.

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has played down suggestions that Luis Suarez has suffered a burnout.

Suarez is the Premier League's leading scorer with 22 strikes for the Reds this season, but has failed to find the net in the last three games.

However, Aldridge feels that it is only natural that the Uruguayan will sometimes go through a dry spell in front of goal.

"Luis Suarez couldn't find the net at Reading [in their 0-0 draw] but it's harsh to suggest his form has really dipped," Aldridge said in his Liverpool Echo column.

"It's like what happens with Steven Gerrard – because he sets such high standards when he isn't quite at that level then people make a big deal out of it.

"Suarez caused Reading plenty of problems and I'm sure he will be back amongst the goals very soon. You can't be a superhero in every game."

Suarez has 29 goals in all competitions for Brendan Rodgers's side this campaign.
