Bruce Arena: 'Steven Gerrard is the full package'

Bruce Arena believes that Steven Gerrard is "first class" and will help Los Angeles Galaxy to compete for trophies.

Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena has lauded Steven Gerrard as "first class" after a meeting with the Liverpool captain this week.

The 34-year-old will team up with the MLS outfit at the end of the season after signing a pre-contract agreement with them in January, and Arena has said that the midfielder has "the full package".

"He's first class. There's no question about it," Arena told the club's official website. "He's got his commitment to Liverpool that he will fulfil and then when he arrives, he will be everything that he can be.

"He's the type of player that his quality speaks for itself on the field, but I think he has the full package in terms of leadership and experience.

"When you add a player like that, he not only makes your team better but he positions you to win more championships."

Gerrard will become the second former England captain to play for LA Galaxy, following David Beckham's five-year spell with the club from 2007 to 2012.
