Kenny Dalglish "delighted" with Steven Gerrard progress

Kenny Dalglish says that Liverpool will "wait and see" how Steven Gerrard progresses before bringing him back in the side.

Kenny Dalglish has insisted that Steven Gerrard is progressing well in his recovery from an ankle infection, but continues to refuse to name a date on his return.

The Reds skipper has been sidelined for over a month with the injury blow, following a six-month layoff with groin problems.

The 31-year-old has partaken in light training this week and could make his comeback in the next few weeks.

"Steven is progressing and training really well," said Dalglish. "Everybody is delighted with his progress, so that is positive as well.

"We'll wait and see [if he's available]. We won't set any targets for Sunday that we won't reach. When he's ready he'll be ready. It's fantastic for him that he's progressing as well as he is and great for us as well."

The Merseyside club travel to the Midlands to play Aston Villa this weekend.
