Steven Gerrard: James Milner a "proven winner"

Outgoing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard believes that new signing James Milner will bring a wealth of experience to the club.

Steven Gerrard believes that new Liverpool signing James Milner will prove to be a success for the club.

Milner signed for the Merseyside club from Manchester City earlier this month, and will join on a free transfer on July 1, subject to a medical.

During his time with City, the 29-year-old won two Premier League titles, as well as an FA Cup and League Cup.

Outgoing Liverpool captain Gerrard told Liverpool Echo: "He'll bring a vast majority of experience. I think it's a very safe signing in the fact that he's won things.

"He's a proven winner – I think he's still hungry. I know he's a very fit boy, very professional and he won't let anyone down."

Milner is also a regular for England, and will likely feature in their Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia this afternoon.
