Steven Gerrard open to future managerial role

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard reveals that he would be open to moving into management at the end of his playing career.

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has admitted that he would "seriously consider" becoming the manager at Anfield if he were to ever be offered the job.

Gerrard has enjoyed a glittering 15-year playing career on Merseyside, but while he has revealed that he would be interested in moving into management, he has insisted that he wouldn't be guaranteed to succeed in the role.

The 33-year-old told the club's official website: "I'd consider management maybe if I was good enough. But just because you've been a decent player and had a successful career at Liverpool, it doesn't mean that you're going to turn out to be a top manager.

"But if I was good enough and I ever got the shout to be the Liverpool manager in 10 or 20 years, of course I'd consider it very seriously."

The England captain signed a new two-year deal at Liverpool during the summer.
