Steven Gerrard spurred on by Los Angeles Galaxy's success

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard talks up the winning record of the Los Angeles Galaxy as he prepares to depart for the American club at the end of the season.

Departing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has highlighted Los Angeles Galaxy's winning mentality as part of the reason that he has decided to join the American outfit at the end of his contract.

Gerrard recently confirmed that he would be breaking from the Premier League in order to play in the MLS, with the legendary midfielder suggesting that his choice to move to the Galaxy was in part due to their record of winning trophies.

"I am going to be moving to the most successful team in the United States, I have watched a lot of their games and know some of the players who have been there and I have heard great things about it," said Gerrard, according to The Express.

"At this stage of my career I feel the timing is right to move on, but I still feel like a player and know I can perform well for the next couple of years so I want to go into a set up with a winning mentality to a team that is used to winning and also a team that has got people within there that want to win in the future."

The Liverpool captain has been one of the more impressive performers for the Anfield club this season, scoring nine goals in 27 games across all competitions.
