Jordan Henderson backs "world-class" Brendan Rodgers

Jordan Henderson says that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is the right man to lead the club forward despite a testing season.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is confident that the "world class" Brendan Rodgers will eventually deliver trophies to Anfield.

Rodgers was a point away from ending the club's 24-year wait for a league title last season as the Reds were pipped to Premier League glory by Manchester City on the final day.

He has come under pressure this season for his failure to build on 2013-14, with Liverpool 19 points behind leaders Chelsea, having also been knocked out of the FA Cup at the semi-final stage by Aston Villa.

Their place in the top four is also at serious risk as Rodgers's side sit seven points behind Manchester City in fourth, but Henderson says that success is inevitable for the 42-year-old.

"Since the manager came in, he has improved the club - I have said many times that he has been a massive part of me developing as a player," he told the club's official website.

"For me, Brendan is a world-class manager. I have got a lot of thanks to him for helping me do that and hopefully it will continue.

"Now I really feel the next stage is to win a trophy and go from there."

With Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp linked with a move to Merseyside, Rodgers claimed on Thursday that he remains the best man for the job.
