Alex Inglethorpe out of running for Liverpool assistant job?

Alex Inglethorpe will remain Liverpool academy director rather than take up a role in Brendan Rodgers's first-team coaching staff, according to a report.

Liverpool academy director Alex Inglethorpe will reportedly remain in his current role instead of becoming part of Brendan Rodgers's first-team coaching staff.

The Reds are looking for a new assistant manager after sacking Colin Pascoe on Friday.

Rodgers was instrumental in bringing Inglethorpe to Liverpool in November 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur, where he played a part in developing the likes of Harry Kane and Ryan Mason.

The 43-year-old started out as a reserve team coach before being promoted to director of the Reds' academy last summer, and it is thought that he enjoys a close relationship with Rodgers.

However, Inglethorpe will remain at Liverpool's Melwood training ground to continue in his current role, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Rodgers's first-team coach Mike Marsh also left Anfield on Friday.
