Liverpool owner John W. Henry consults Bolton chairman

Liverpool owner John W. Henry contacts Bolton chairman Phil Gartside over overseas TV rights row.

Liverpool owner John W. Henry is believed to have contacted Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside to explain Ian Ayre's comments regarding overseas television rights.

The managing director of Liverpool claimed that the Reds were considering a separate TV rights scheme in order to bring in extra revenue for the club.

Ayre hinted that viewers in the Middle East would not pay to watch fellow Premier League side Bolton as opposed to clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool.

The businessman's comments reportedly angered Bolton chairman Gartside, which has caused Fenway Sports Group owner Henry to clear the air, according to the Daily Mail.

The apology comes after Ayre tried to calm suggestions that the Merseyside club were prepared to break away from the current TV deal with the Premier League.
