Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has urged Sadio Mane not to change his style of play following the winger's red card on Saturday.
Mane was given a straight red card in Liverpool's crucial Premier League game against Manchester City when the former Southampton attacker caught City keeper Ederson with a high boot after both players attempted to chase after a high ball.
The Senegalese winger has since been given a three-match ban for his illegal action, and Klopp has told Mane not to adapt his style of play.
Klopp told reporters: "The most important thing for me to say is not even 1% of Sadio wanted to put the goalkeeper in danger. He wanted to get the ball. It's important he wants to do that in all the games he plays. We cannot change this. It's a sport where things like this happen."
Although Mane will be unavailable for the Reds in the next three Premier League games, the winger is available to feature in the Champions League.
The five-time winners of the competition will face Sevilla on Wednesday.
