Lucas Leiva: 'I found it hard to adapt at Liverpool'

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva admits that he found it difficult to adapt to life in England when he first joined the Reds in 2007.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has recalled the difficult period of settling in he had to endure when he first signed for the club.

The Brazilian joined the Reds in 2007 and did not immediately win over the fans
at Anfield, and the former Gremio man admitted that it was tough to adapt to life in England.

"It was very hard," Lucas told the Daily Mail.

"At first I couldn't speak the language, I didn't have many friends and family was not here. It was a struggle to get to know people and I found it difficult getting involved in the day-to-day things that went on at the club.

"The third season was the breakthrough. 'When I had the chance to play a lot of games in a row, I really started to develop."

Lucas has represented the Reds 206 times.
