Gordon Taylor says that the PFA will be left embarrassed should Luis Suarez win the Player of the Year award.

PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor has admitted that it would be 'an embarrassment' if Luis Suarez won the Player of the Year award after receiving a 10-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic on Sunday.

Opinion has been divided on whether or not the Uruguayan should be awarded the accolade, with some feeling that his frequent controversial actions should result in him missing out on the prize.

However, Taylor conceded that the FA would be left rather red-faced should the 26-year-old claim the trophy.

"It would be embarrassing if he is named player of the year," Taylor told BBC Sport.

"But we have got to deal with it and make sure he is player of the year not just in a footballing sense but as a human being as well and we will be trying to do that."

Suarez is up for the award against Gareth Bale, Robin van Persie, Michael Carrick, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard.
