Brendan Rodgers: It could have been "six or seven"

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers claims that his side could have had "six or seven" goals as his team beat local rivals Everton 4-0 at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers claimed that his side could have scored "six or seven" after watching them hammer Everton 4-0 in the Merseyside derby.

Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez scored a goal apiece either side of a Daniel Sturridge brace, and the Reds boss thought that his side could have had more against their fierce local rivals.

He told BT Sport: "Our concentration and mentality was exceptional tonight. We gambled with the two strikers, but that's why we get them on the pitch and take the risk.

"They can both score goals and we could have had six or seven. The counter-attack worked fantastically well."

Meanwhile, Sturridge has apologised for his reaction to being substituted midway through the second half.
