Brendan Rodgers: 'Liverpool deserved to beat Hull City'

Brendan Rodgers insists that Liverpool deserved to beat Hull City following Saturday's 0-0 Premier League draw at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that his side deserved to beat Hull City following Saturday's goalless draw at Anfield.

The Reds failed to make their dominance count as the Tigers held firm to come away from Merseyside with a share of the spoils in the Premier League encounter.

Despite concerns over the freshness of his players after Wednesday's 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League, Rodgers believes that they put in an impressive display.

"Performance-wise we were excellent, particularly in the second half where we were outstanding," he told BBC Sport. "After a tough game in midweek it was a great effort from the players and we deserved to win the game.

"I thought it was just a matter of time until we scored. We created some opportunities and had 19 shots at goal. I can't ask for any more from the players, they've given everything."

Liverpool are back in action on Tuesday when they entertain Swansea City in round four of the League Cup.
