Liverpool earn narrow pre-season friendly win over Tranmere Rovers

Liverpool survive a late Tranmere Rovers fightback to claim a narrow 3-2 win in Tuesday's pre-season friendly at Prenton Park.

Liverpool have survived a late Tranmere Rovers fightback to claim a narrow 3-2 win in Tuesday's pre-season friendly at Prenton Park.

The Reds opened the scoring after just eight minutes when 18-year-old midfielder Rafael Camacho rifled into the far corner of the hosts' net following good work from Sheyi Ojo.

The provider then got on the scoresheet just before the half-hour mark, cutting inside on his left foot after getting the better of Mark Ellis and drilling past goalkeeper Scott Davies.

Adam Lallana went on to grab Liverpool's third on 33 minutes, smashing the ball home after the newly-promoted League Two side failed to clear their lines.

Jurgen Klopp opted to rotate his entire starting XI for the second half, including the introduction of Loris Karius for Danny Ward in between the sticks.

The German goalkeeper was at fault for the Birkenhead side's first goal, spilling Oliver Norburn's 25-yard free kick to the feet of Jonny Smith, who followed up with an easy tap-in.

Amadou Soukouna then made it a nervy finish for last season's Champions League finalists late on after stealing the ball from James Milner and slotting past an exposed Karius from inside the box.
