John Aldridge wants Liverpool to sign West Ham United's Mohamed Diame this summer.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge feels that they should attempt to sign West Ham United midfielder Mohamed Diame in the summer.

The former Wigan Athletic man has gained plenty of admirers for his performances for the Hammers this season, and Aldridge is among them with the Reds legend saying that the club should try to lure him to Anfield.

"Mohamed Diame is a tremendous player and so strong and powerful in that central [midfield] role. He is exactly what the Reds need," Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.

"[He is] one player I would urge Liverpool to keep to tabs on. Diame is certainly one for future reference."

Brendan Rodgers's side drew 0-0 with West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday.
