Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has reportedly had numerous phone calls with Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini amid speculation that the controversial forward could return to Serie A.
The Italy international has struggled to find form following his £16m summer move to Anfield from AC Milan, having scored just twice this season.
While Balotelli's representatives continue to reject reports that the 24-year-old may return to Serie A, it is believed that he has been in contact with his former Manchester City manager.
According to The Express, it is understood that the pair have chatted on the phone and Mancini is keen on signing Balotelli on loan in January with the idea of a permanent transfer in the summer.
Balotelli has been out of action in recent weeks with a groin injury.
