Liverpool are being credited with a "strong interest" in Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Joao Pedro ahead of the January transfer window, according to a report.
Arne Slot's side remained at the top of the Premier League standings despite dropping two points in the title race against Newcastle United in midweek.
The Reds were held to a 3-3 draw by Eddie Howe's side, with Mohamed Salah once again playing a pivotal role for the Merseysiders, contributing to all three of their goals, including scoring two himself after setting up Curtis Jones for the opener.
However, Darwin Nunez faced criticism once again following another disappointing performance, fueling further rumours about Slot's need to find a replacement for the striker.

Reds add Joao Pedro to transfer target list
There has been widespread speculation in recent weeks that Liverpool have been exploring attacking options, with the likes of Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram and Eintracht Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush linked with moves to Anfield.
However, according to journalist Francois Plateau, the Reds have now added Brighton forward Joao Pedro to their list of potential attacking reinforcements ahead of the winter transfer window.
Plateau does not specify the transfer fee the Seagulls might demand for Pedro, whose playing style has been compared to former Liverpool favourite Roberto Firmino, but he is believed to be valued at around £41m.
While Nunez continues to be a constant threat in Slot's attack and provides a work rate that is unquestionable, his goal and assist tally has been underwhelming.
The 25-year-old has netted three goals and provided two assists in 18 appearances across all competitions, while the stellar form of Salah, along with crucial contributions from Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo, has helped mask Nunez's struggles in front of goal this term.

Liverpool also eyeing defensive reinforcements
In addition to bolstering their attacking options, it is understood that Liverpool are also eyeing defensive reinforcements, with Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong rumoured to be among their top targets.
CaughtOffside report that the Reds are in constant contact with the 23-year-old right-back and have made the Dutchman their number one target to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold if he decides to depart at the end of the season.
The England international is in the final year of his Liverpool contract, and the Reds have yet to reach an agreement to extend his stay at Anfield.
Frimpong has been outstanding in the Bundesliga, registering double digits for both goals and assists last season, playing a key role in helping his team secure the title while remaining unbeaten.
