Liverpool are reportedly asking for £20m for defender Martin Skrtel to deter intersted clubs.

Liverpool will put a £20m price tag on defender Martin Skrtel to deter interest from other clubs, reports have suggested.

Last month, it was reported that the Slovakian is unsettled at Anfield and is ready to ask for a transfer in search of Champions League football.

Liverpool are desperate to keep Skrtel, who was voted as the fans' player of the year. However, it is believed that clubs such as Manchester City, AC Milan and Juventus are eyeing the 27-year-old.

The Reds are keen to discuss a new contract with Skrtel, whose current deal expires in June 2014. The former Zenit Saint Petersburg man is expected to wait until the new manager is installed before making his decision.

Skrtel's agent, Karol Csonto, spoke earlier this month of his client's plans to sit down with Liverpool and discuss his future.

"Some changes have been made at the club and the player wants to know what the aims and ambitions are," Csonto said.

"We want to discuss with Liverpool what they want and, of course, we will discuss the issue of Martin's new contract."

Skrtel joined Liverpool in 2008 for £6.5m.
