Gylfi Sigurdsson: Brendan Rodgers switch has changed my mind

Gylfi Sigurdsson reveals that Brendan Rodgers leaving Swansea for Liverpool has "changed the situation", hinting he could join Rodgers in moving to Merseyside.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has admitted that Brendan Rodgers leaving Swansea City has thrown his plans for the future up in the air.

Swansea have agreed terms with Hoffenheim for the transfer of Sigurdsson, 22, who was on loan in Wales for the second half of last season, but the playmaker has said that Rodgers switching to Liverpool has "changed the situation".

"It's just unclear at this moment where I will play," he told Icelandic publication Morgunblaoio. "I'd like to play on with Swansea since I was really happy there.

"But after Brendan Rodgers left the club for Liverpool, it changed the situation."

Sigurdsson went on to say that it is now unlikely he would join Swansea and that Liverpool are a club he would be interested in signing for.

He added: "Liverpool is a big club that has a glorious history. The English Premier League is the platform that I want to be on and hopefully I continue to play in that division.

"I expect not to stay at Swansea as the uncertainty going on there and it is not clear who is the boss."

Set-piece specialist Sigurdsson scored seven goals in 18 appearances for the Swans last season.
