RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner unfollows the club on Twitter amid recent rumours that he could be on his way to Liverpool at the end of the season.

Timo Werner has unfollowed RB Leipzig on Twitter after the German club used an image of him to have a dig at Liverpool over the weekend.

Leipzig posted a GIF of Werner looking at a mobile phone with a shocked expression following the Reds' surprise loss to Watford, their first defeat in the Premier League this term.

Werner, who has made no secret of his admiration for Jurgen Klopp's side, responded by unfollowing his current club on the social media site.

Liverpool have been tipped to trigger the Germany international's £51m release clause, but they could face competition from Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Speaking last week, Werner stressed that he is only focused on helping Leipzig between now and the end of the season.
