Roberto Mancini says that Manchester City will one day become "a top team" like their Champions League opponents Real Madrid.

Roberto Mancini believes that Manchester City will one day become as big a football club as Real Madrid.

The Premier League champions will take on their Spanish counterparts in the Champions League in Madrid on Tuesday.

"It's clear that we don't have the history like Real Madrid but I think that Manchester City have won some trophies and we want to win now and for the next 10 years," the City manager is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"Manchester City will be a top team like Real but they have a big history and that's the difference."

The other game in Group D on Tuesday is between Borussia Dortmund and Ajax in Germany.
