Roberto Mancini accepts that Manchester City's fate is out of his hands after losing 2-1 to Napoli.

Roberto Mancini has accepted that Manchester City's Champions League fate is out of his hands after they were beaten 2-1 by Napoli last night.

The result means that City must beat Bayern Munich in their final group game and Villarreal will need to see off Napoli for the Premier League leaders to advance to the knockout stage.

"I give 70% chance to Napoli and 30% chance to us. It doesn't depend on us now but we have to hope Villarreal get a result," Mancini said.

"Our target was to reach the second stage but, at this moment, we depend on other teams. If Villarreal play a serious game we can go through. It's the Champions League and you never say never.

"I'm only sorry for the lads. I think we lost undeservedly. We played well but we conceded two stupid goals. We have another game in the group but, if we don't qualify, then we have the Europa League."

City face Bayern Munich at home on Wednesday, December 7.
