Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is ruled out of the Premier League match againt Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday after limping out of this afternoon's FA Cup win over Stoke City.

Manchester City assistant manager David Platt has confirmed that captain Vincent Kompany will definitely miss Tuesday's Premier League match against Queens Park Rangers.

Kompany limped off in the first half of City's 1-0 victory against Stoke City in the FA Cup today with a calf injury and Platt has admitted that the Belgian defender will face a spell on the sidelines.

He told reporters: "He has pulled his calf. We won't know how bad it is until the morning but there won't be any chance of Tuesday."

City are short of options in central defence with Kolo Toure away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Roberto Mancini only has Joleon Lescott and Matija Nastasic available as natural centre-backs for the trip to Loftus Road in midweek.
