Man City injury, suspension list and return dates vs. Leicester: Walker, Ake, Grealish

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Leicester City on Sunday.

Surely out of the Premier League title picture and fighting an uphill battle to even qualify for the Champions League, Manchester City hope to close out a mixed 2024 on a high when they visit Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola's men now have just one win to show from their last 13 matches after their 1-1 draw with Everton on Boxing Day, where Iliman Ndiaye cancelled out Bernardo Silva's opener.

Languishing in seventh place in the Premier League table, the reigning champions are a staggering 14 points off Liverpool - who have a game in hand - and are five points below Arsenal in the final Champions League spot.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Leicester, who fell to a 3-1 loss at the home of Liverpool on Thursday night.

Jack Grealish

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: December 29 (vs. Leicester)

Jack Grealish suffered another muscular problem in training during the lead-up to the Everton game, and his participation this weekend is therefore clouded in uncertainty.

Kyle Walker

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: December 29 (vs. Leicester)

Kyle Walker was missing from the squad on Boxing Day after coming down with flu, which should not render him unavailable for too much longer, but he remains uncertain for the Leicester game at this juncture.

Nathan Ake

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Fatigue
Possible return date: December 29 (vs. Leicester)

Nathan Ake could not complete the full 90 minutes against Everton due to fatigue, but there is no suggestion that he is suffering from a more serious problem, and he should be fine to face the Foxes.

Rodri

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

A return before the end of the campaign has not been totally ruled out for Rodri, who suffered a devastating ACL injury back in September, but he still has months of rehabilitation ahead of him.

Oscar Bobb

Status: Out
Type of injury: Leg fracture
Possible return date: February 2 (vs. Arsenal)

Back in October, Guardiola expressed hope that Oscar Bobb would be back from his leg break in the early weeks of the New Year, but Sunday's game will come too soon for the attacker.

Ruben Dias

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: January 11 (vs. Salford City)

Ruben Dias sustained a muscular problem in the recent 2-1 derby defeat to Manchester United, and Guardiola has revealed that the Portuguese defender will not be available for the next three to four weeks.

John Stones

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: December 29 (vs. Leicester)

John Stones was not fit to face former club Everton after hurting his ankle in the loss to Aston Villa last weekend, and as the centre-back has struggled with a similar problem for a good chunk of 2024-25, it would not be surprising to see him sit this one out.

Matheus Nunes

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: December 29 (vs. Leicester)

Matheus Nunes was also nowhere to be seen during the Everton draw owing to a knock, which also rendered him unavailable at Villa Park, and the Portuguese midfielder is facing a race against time to prove his fitness for Sunday.

Ederson

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: December 29 (vs. Leicester)

Guardiola conceded that first-choice goalkeeper Ederson 'did not feel good' after he missed the Toffees draw with a knock, and the Brazilian shot-stopper remains a significant doubt for the trip to the King Power Stadium.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man City have no players suspended for this match.
