Roberto Mancini: We deserved to win

Roberto Mancini praises Sergio Aguero's goal that clinched the win for Manchester City against Arsenal.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has praised his side's winning performance against Arsenal in the Carling Cup quarter-final last night.

The North West team booked a spot in the semi-finals with a 1-0 victory over the Gunners at the Emirates.

"We had a chance seven minutes from the end and we scored," said Mancini. "It was a great goal [by Sergio Aguero]. A great counter-attack. I don't think that Arsenal had a lot of chances, I think we played well.

"It will be better to win here in the Premier League but it is a good feeling because we are into the semi-finals of the competition.

"We have a strong squad - all of the top teams have a good squad and can change eight, nine or ten players. It is normal for the Carling Cup to change."

Man City will discover who they will meet in the Carling Cup semi-final when the draw is made after Manchester United's quarter-final against Crystal Palace this evening.
