Arsene Wenger commends youngsters' performances

Arsene Wenger applauds the performances of his young players despite their 1-0 Carling Cup quarter-final loss to Man City tonight.

Arsene Wenger has praised the performances of his young players after the Gunners' 1-0 Carling Cup quarter-final loss to Man City tonight.

The Frenchman made ten changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Fulham at the Emirates on Sunday, handing starts to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Emmanuel Frimpong amongst others.

Despite Sergio Aguero's late winner earning City victory, Wenger says that he can take "plenty of positives" from the youngsters performances.

"Overall the young players have done well. The performances of some players were outstanding," he said.

"We feel harshly done by but it's part of the learning process."

Arsenal return to Premier League action against Wigan at the DW Stadium on Saturday.
