Manchester City's Jack Rodwell says that he thinks his injuries are now a thing of the past following his start in their 2-0 win over Chelsea last weekend.

Manchester City's Jack Rodwell hopes that his injuries are finally behind him.

The midfielder produced an encouraging display for the champions in their 2-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday.

The game marked Rodwell's third start since his £12m move from Everton last summer, and the 21-year-old is cautiously optimistic that the worst is behind him.

"I got a couple of hamstring injuries and I doubted whether I was just built for it. I did [doubt myself] last season at Everton to be honest, but I've stayed strong and now I'm back," The Mirror quotes Rodwell saying.

"I'm just pleased to be back on the pitch and injury-free. I was probably fresh because I haven't played. I've been training really hard and feel stronger than I was before.

"My last start was back in September. I've not really had a lot of opportunities. I've had a lot of injuries. I'm still young, I'm 21, so I'm still maturing body-wise."

City are currently second in the Premier League.
