Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert hits out at referee Jonathan Moss following his side's 5-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has hit out at Jonathan Moss after he awarded a controversial penalty against his side in their 5-0 defeat to Manchester City.

The official contentiously penalised Andreas Weimann for handball in the area, allowing Sergio Aguero to put the Premier League Champions 2-0 up from the spot.

However, Lambert has dismissed the decision as "ridiculous" and was adamant that Moss contributed to his team's downfall.

"I've just watched it," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "That is never a handball, nowhere near it, it was an absolutely ridiculous decision and never a penalty in its life.

"It came off the City player's head and did not touch Andreas Weimann's hand. None of their players appealed and how he called that in a big moment in the game, I don't know.

"He's got to be 100% sure and I'm 100% certain it wasn't a penalty. That decision was a massive call and he got it wrong."

Aguero and Carlos Tevez both netted braces, while David Silva scored his first Premier League goal since April during the demolition.
