Manuel Pellegrini: 'Title still possible'

Manuel Pellegrini insists that the Premier League title is still possible, despite seeing his Manchester City side fall nine points behind leaders Leicester City.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that his side can still win the Premier League title this season despite dropping two points at Norwich City today.

The Chilean's charges were unable to find their way past a resolute Norwich defence in the goalless draw, a result that leaves them nine points off leaders Leicester City with nine games of their season to play.

"Every time you drop points it can be more difficult, but that will not change my mind [about the title]," Pellegrini told Sky Sports News afterwards. "As long as there is a mathematical chance to win the title we must think we can do it.

"We worked very hard during the whole game. But Norwich defended very well. We tried different ways to create chances. But we are frustrated. We wanted to win the game. We tried from the first minute.

"Let's see at the end of the season how many points we have. But if you ask me in the first game of the season what we must do, we must try to win all the games. We continue with the same mentality."

City welcome rivals Manchester United to the Etihad in their next league outing on March 20 but first must defend a 3-1 first-leg lead over Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
