Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has called back Nedum Onuoha to first-team training, despite the recent furore surrounding an email sent to his mother.
It was revealed this week that City chief executive Garry Cook had allegedly sent an offensive email to Onuoha's mother, Antonia, mocking her battle with cancer.
Cook swiftly denied sending the email, claiming his account had been hacked, and an investigation is due to be held over the matter.
Defender Onuoha spent last season on loan at Sunderland, but on his return to City he was training with the reserves and the youth team.
There is a chance that the 24-year-old could be named in the Blues' squad for Saturday's game at home to Wigan Athletic.
